Character Information
Name: Loki Laufeyson (Kid Loki)
Canon: Marvel Comics
Canon Point: Journey into Mystery 645, after his hug with Thor
Age: Physically and mentally 13-14, has technically only existed for 2 years
History: Wikia entry.
Personality: Kid Loki is one of those funny, adorable characters who are actually quite sad. His manner of speech is witty and occasionally sassy and sarcastic, making it noticeable that he's really smart while still sounding like a enthusiastic child somehow. Yet perhaps for his situation as a reincarnation of the villainous Loki, he was incapable to experience many positive relationships and socialization in his canon. Unlike his previous self, Loki adores his brother Thor and his desire to become a good person might have arisen from his influence. Everyone else either despise or discriminate him, or use him for their shady purposes (and vice versa, as Loki's also a manipulator.) Loki is a boy with a lot of love to give and a strong need to make friends, yet he's usually found annoying or assumed to be evil. He's so lonely. Even with his dog and his best friend Leah he has a rocky relationship. He's able to trust, perhaps too much for the kind of character he is, but understands why others wouldn't trust him. He doesn't trust himself, either.
He was haunted by the fear of becoming like his past life, and the panic increases the more things of dubious morality he's done. He's driven by a strong wish to change and becoming his own self, to the point he would've rather die than not to change -ironically, he does end up both changing himself and dying. He often lets insults and bullying towards himself go unpunished because if he acted upon it, the other Asgardians would think he's truly evil. He's susceptible to guilt and self blame. Despite his morality being gray, he can feel remorse after deceiving someone and will do these things for good, sometimes even sacrificing himself or his bond to others to save the world -to the point he gave up his own life in order to stop an artifact he had helped making, after falling into the wrong hands.
Manpain and ironies aside, Loki is intelligent, clever, and fairly good at deception, like a good trickster. He enjoys mental challenges that keep his head busy, whether it's deciphering riddles, learning about a subject, practicing a dead language, or indulging in nerdy stuff like Internet memes, apps, or movies. Human culture fascinates him and he studies it at leisure even though he also lacks human friends. He's unfortunately fond of keeping secrets the others ignore, which is quintessential Marvel Loki. He's proud, yet he'd swallow his pride if he had no choice. He supports progress, to the point of changing sides if he agrees better with the other point of view. He's overall a Good, noble boy and a wonderful antihero, yet he doesn't know if it's possible for him to be heroic and remain good when his nature is so chaotic and prone to backstabbing his loved ones, and there's the biggest problem of his existence.
Abilities: His best quality is his bright mind. He's a boy of big, unconventional ideas. He's more than a decent deceiver and manipulator, as the Liesmith reborn. He makes things happen even though people won't know it was his doing. However, his strategies often have nasty consequences that come back to bite him in the ass. You know, textbook trickster.
He's also good at running! You have to, if most of the kingdom wants to kick your ass. He's athletic and agile, and as an Asgardian god he's quicker and stronger and heavier and more resilient than any normal human his size. He can be stealthy and steal easily. He's extraordinary at languages, able to crack a message in an obscure dead tongue in one night. Like the rest of his race, he speaks in the All-Tongue which everyone hears as their native language. He also knows too much about the Internet and pop culture, which he finds important. He has a smartphone and is well versed in technology circa 2012, and will quickly adapt to the game's timeline's. He has underdeveloped magic abilities and the potential to be a great sorcerer one day, but he chose not to learn most of those skills since it's a power the old Lokis mastered. He knows how to cook. He's aware of the fourth wall and can break it, too.
Strengths: Causing change, charming, acquiring knowledge, cunning, adorable quirkiness
Weaknesses: Not thinking ahead, liar, backstabber, bitterness, too trusting
God/Shinki: God
Why?: He's already one. Besides that, it'd be interesting to play him with his few memories as his character arc was rich and meta, and forgetting it would be a disservice. Also, he's a reincarnation of a god and was born already with amnesia about his evil past lives, forced to his role, so he sort of went through that.
Top 3 Choices: Hermes (Greek), Anansi (Western African), Coyote (North American). Hermes would be the best option because there are plenty of parallels: trickster god, was already tricking his older brother as soon as he was born, love for languages and communication, a knack for thievery, worked for the monarch of his pantheon (his adoptive mothers, the queens of Asgardia) in doing their dirty jobs. Anansi is a god of stories, and his main comic book (Journey into Mystery) is extremely meta and he's well aware he and everyone else are fiction, plus he's rewritten two characters' stories in canon. Coyote is a trickster that's also a culture hero.
God Type: Chaotic good. He's all for helping and saving others, but there's a big chance of his dubious actions backfiring on him or everyone else. Loki would mentally equate the battles against Ayakashi to superhero plus sidekick fights, and while not being good at physical encounters he'd love to try every now and then. He's more the kind to make crazy strategic plans, such as making the monsters fight each other in a deadlock to stall for time, or blowing things up. He might do better in the more relaxed prayers that involve questing and more talking, as long as he doesn't lie too much to others. He'll also put enormous efforts in befriending his shinki(s).
Power: Escape Artistry. Reality itself shifts somehow so he can escape any bonds or imprisonment (which is funny considering Loki's original Norse myths) or also dodge an incoming attack. Of course, this is valid as long as he's aware enough to will it (so he'd still be weak to a sneak attack or being chained while sleeping.)
